For the next episode of my choice, I decided to watch another episode of Firefly. I watched the 13th episode, “Heart of Gold”. The more I watch this show, the more it keeps me intrigued and I don’t want to stop watching it! I never thought I would say that because Sci-Fi is not my forte. Anyhow, during the episode Inara receives a call from a fellow companion, Mandy. Mandy needs the crew’s help because she knows there will be a battle and they are not fully equipped to fight. Inara explains this situation to Mal and he agrees to help the companions out. She needs help keeping this powerful man away from her “whore” house because he got one of her girls pregnant and he wants to keep the baby as his heir. Yet the man has a wife. If I were the wife, I would be furious that my husband got another woman pregnant, yet his wife seems perfectly fine that the baby is his. Why she is fine with it makes no sense to me. But during this episode, I discovered that Inara truly cares about Mal. After having sex with Mandy, Mal leaves her room early in the morning half naked as Inara is walking by. She cries after talking to Mal because Mal confesses that he had sex with Mandy. Then after all of the fighting is over and they are back on Serenity, Inara discreetly describes her feelings to Mal and says that she is leaving the ship! I don’t understand why she would leave if she has everything there? Is she leaving because she cares that much about Mal?
